1. Who We Are

Contextify ("we", "us", "our") is a solo-operated software product based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. We provide an AI-powered short-form video script analyzer accessible at contextify.ca.

2. What This Policy Covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user. It applies to all users of contextify.ca and our web application.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account Information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, account creation date and membership status. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture with us. We use Supabase for authentication and database storage. Your password is never stored in plain text.

3.2 Usage Data

We track: the number of analyses and checks you run each month, analysis results (score, dimensions, top fix) linked to your account, video transcripts generated from your uploaded content, the scripts and hooks you type into text checks, the scripts, captions and weekly briefs we write for you, and timestamps of activity.

3.3 Video and Audio Files

Your video file is never uploaded to our servers.

Audio is extracted directly in your browser using FFmpeg.wasm. Only the extracted audio is temporarily uploaded to Cloudflare R2 for transcription purposes. This audio file is permanently deleted from our storage immediately after transcription is complete. We do not retain any audio or video files.

A single thumbnail frame is extracted from your video in your browser and stored to identify your videos in your vault. Your full video file is never uploaded or stored.

3.4 Transcripts

The text transcript generated from your audio is stored in our database (Supabase) linked to your account. This is what powers your analysis history and vault. You can delete your content at any time from your dashboard.

3.5 Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. Stripe handles all payment data under their own privacy and security policies. We only store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

3.6 Creator Profile

After you sign up, we ask six short questions, which you can skip: the kind of videos you make, where you post, your niche, your audience, your goal and your preferred voice. You can also add your public social media handle. We use your answers to tailor your analyses, fixes and rewrites, and the handle to understand who uses Contextify. Adding a handle does not connect your social media account; we never access or post to it. Your handle is not sent to AI providers. You can change your answers at any time from your account.

3.7 Analytics

Before you choose in the cookie banner, we count page views through PostHog without cookies, browser storage or any identifier: the page, the page you came from, any campaign tags in the link, and your IP address, used for an approximate location. Each page view stands on its own, so we cannot tell whether two came from the same person, and nothing is linked to your account.

If you accept analytics in our cookie banner, we use PostHog and Google Analytics to understand how Contextify is used: pages visited, clicks, and product events such as completing onboarding, running a check, viewing plans or starting checkout. When you are signed in, PostHog links these events to your account, including your email address and name. The event details we send ourselves are limited to things like scores, plan names and your multiple-choice onboarding answers. They never include your scripts, transcripts or typed answers.

PostHog also records session replays: a recording of how you move through Contextify (your clicks, scrolling and the screens you see), along with error and performance information and browser console messages. Typed inputs are masked, but screens can display your own transcripts and reports, so a replay may contain that on-screen content. Replays are kept for 30 days and are used only to find bugs and fix confusing screens. PostHog also receives your IP address and uses it to estimate your approximate location.

If you decline, page views are no longer counted and neither tool runs in your browser. You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of our pages or on the Cookie Policy. We also use Vercel Web Analytics for page-view counts, which sets no cookies. A few events tied to your account, such as completing a purchase, are recorded by our servers because they run the service and your membership.

3.8 Connected YouTube Channel

If you connect a YouTube channel, Contextify uses YouTube API Services with read-only access. We read your channel’s name and picture, the list of your Shorts with their public view and like counts, and, when you choose to analyze a Short, its captions. We use this only to show your Shorts and to analyze the ones you pick. We never post, edit or delete anything on YouTube.

Your access token is stored encrypted and is never shared. You can disconnect at any time from your dashboard, or remove Contextify’s access in your Google account permissions. Disconnecting deletes the stored token, and deleting your account deletes the connection.

Contextify’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. By connecting, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies.

3.9 Free Hook Check Without an Account

If you run a free check on the homepage without signing up, the text you type is sent to Anthropic to be scored. The check is stored encrypted for up to 7 days and is tied only to a cookie in your browser, so you can return to it. If you create an account in that time, you can keep the check in your account.

3.10 Shared Analyses

If you choose to share an analysis, we create a public link (a long, random address) to a snapshot of the report: the score, the breakdown and the recommendations, plus your transcript only if you turn that on. Hook and script checks can be shared the same way: the score, signals, quoted words and feedback, the rewrite if your plan includes it, and your full text only if you turn that on. Anyone who has the link can view it. You can stop sharing at any time from the same panel, which deletes the link, and deleting a check also deletes its link.

3.11 Weekly Niche Brief and Public Trend Data

To write your weekly niche brief, we search public YouTube Shorts and TikTok videos for the niche you choose, using the YouTube Data API and ScrapeCreators. Only the niche keywords are sent to those services, never your personal information. The titles, captions, public view counts and spoken openings of the videos we find are sent to Anthropic, together with the niche, your creator profile answers and the transcripts of the videos you pick, so it can write the brief. We link to the original videos and never re-host them.

3.12 Looking Up Public TikTok Videos

If you look up a TikTok handle or video link in Contextify, we send that handle or link to ScrapeCreators, a data provider that reads TikTok's public pages for us. We do not sign in to TikTok as you, and we do not send ScrapeCreators your videos, your audio or anything you have uploaded. It returns what TikTok shows anyone: the videos' captions, their public counts (views, likes, comments, shares and saves) and the words spoken in them where TikTok has captions. We keep a handle's list of videos for 24 hours, and we keep the captions of public videos we have read so we do not have to fetch them again. If you analyze one of these videos or add it to Niche studio, its caption text, its public counts at that time, its TikTok link and the handle are saved in your library until you delete them. When you analyze one, its caption text is sent to Anthropic like any other transcript, without the handle.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to provide and operate the Contextify service, process and return your video script analysis, enforce membership usage limits, manage your Plus or Pro subscription via Stripe, send transactional emails, tailor your analyses to your creator profile, and improve the product based on usage patterns.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not use your videos, transcripts or scripts to train AI models. We do not share your transcripts or analysis results with anyone except the service providers listed below, who process them for us, and the links you choose to share.

Canadian Users — PIPEDA

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, withdraw consent and request deletion of your data, and know how your data is being used. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@contextify.ca. We will respond within 30 days.

Quebec Residents — Law 25

Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) provides additional rights including the right to data portability and the right to be forgotten. Contact us to exercise these rights. The person in charge of the protection of personal information at Contextify is Yassine Ani, Founder, reachable at privacy@contextify.ca.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete any video or analysis yourself from your dashboard at any time. To delete your whole account, email privacy@contextify.ca from the address on your account. We cancel any subscription, then delete your account, your analyses and your connected YouTube token within 30 days. We keep only the billing records the law requires.

EEA/UK Users — GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) across the entire product, row-level security on our database (Supabase RLS), encrypted storage of connected-account tokens, no storage of raw payment data, and immediate deletion of audio files after processing.

No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

Contextify is not directed at children under the age of 14. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or by a notice in the product. Continued use of Contextify after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
